WORKING WITHIN A CULTURAL COMMUNITY
Every person has and is entitled to their culture. Service
providers have a responsibility to be respectful of that
culture and ensure that services are provided in such a
manner that cultural traditions, expectations, and
experiences are view as integral to a person’s identity.
Standards related to Aboriginal persons and those of unique
cultures remind service providers that communities can play
a valuable role in bringing healing to people. This module
will support organizations in understanding the history
behind the creations of culturally related standards, the
commitment of CAC to cultural respect and sensitivity, and
methods to ensure that organizations are offering the
optimal services within the boundaries of cultural belief
systems. |
