ACCREDITATION PANEL
| |
|
|
The Accreditation Panel is made up of 8 volunteers and is an
arm's length panel that decides the accreditation status of
programs that have completed the process. These volunteers
come from within the sector and have experience with
accreditation as well as experience within the child
services sector.
The On-Site Report that the Accreditation Panel receives
from each organization is vetted, making sure to
only have coding known to CAC in order to identify them. All
references to the name, location, or any defining features
are removed from the On-Site Report in order to
ensure that the panel is as unbiased as possible.
The On-Site Report is then presented to the panel, with
comments on both the positive findings as well as the team's
rational behind the non-compliant ratings. After the On-Site Report is presented, the
Organization's response is
also presented, which give the panel the opportunity to hear
how the organization has addressed the issues that were
brought forward and how the organization plans to maintain
the standards in the future.
When the presentation of the On-Site Report and the
Organization's
Response has concluded, the Accreditation Panel deliberates
on the report and has the option of grating accreditation
for 1, 3, or 4 years or to defer the accreditation
status of the program or to deny the program accreditation.

 |
When the Accreditation is deferred, the program then has up
to 4 months to work towards achieving compliance in
the
areas that were lacking. At the end of the deferral period,
a follow-up on-site is performed, in which the CORE Support
as well as a small number of reviewers return to the program
and evaluate the non-compliant pieces of the accreditation
process. A Follow-Up Report is written and the program is
presented to the Accreditation Panel
and re-evaluated.
If a program is denied, either after the first on-site or
after a follow-up, the program has two options in order to
continue with the process. The program can re-apply for
accreditation and begin the process again, or the program
has the right to appeal the decision of the Accreditation
Panel. If the program appeals the decision, a separate
Appeals Panel is convened and the program may be speak to present their
case. The Appeals Panel will then take into consideration
the appeal by the program and the original report and choose
to either hold up the decision of the Accreditation Panel or
overturn the decision and make a new ruling.
Once a program has reached accreditation, we commission a
Plaque made and can either send it to the program or come in
person to present it to the successful program. At this
point the is responsible for filling in the yearly
Declaration of Compliance, alerting us to any changes or
incidents that have happened at the program, and paying the
Annual Fee of $500.As well as the Recognition of
being accredited by CAC, we also offer a wide variety of
